Just curious, Do you consider yourself an opportunist or an intuitive?
What does it mean to be an opportunist?
It means that you're actually looking for opportunities for your life to be better. Whether it is to capture timing, momentum or make money, whatever it is that is meaningful to you.
Are you looking for opportunities or are you like me, an intuitive.
I have always followed my intuition. I have a really good gut, and I trust it. Here's a short story of what I learned about myself….
I was born in Idaho and for a while I moved to the foothills of Lake Tahoe and bought myself a horse.
I had a farm and a ranch and big views outside and it was a gorgeous spot. But I realized I was not a cowgirl at heart and I moved back to San Francisco I lived in the city and then I moved to New York. I love New York. I love Manhattan. I am a city girl.
I went to work and became a corporate girl too... I built a strong relationship with the company that I was working with and made a lot of money for them (and me). Well wouldn’t you know they sold that company to someone who wanted that relationship I built... It was then I realized, oh, okay, I'm not going to do that again.
I was building somebody else's dream and so my intuition said, okay, let go... What am I going to do? I asked my intuition and that's when things in my life have shown up.
I prayed and I put it out there. So I've always been an intuitive, but I became an opportunist 10 years ago… and here’s how:
We have a big old house and like anybody, right, you make money, you have success, you spend it and your bills just get bigger. So when the economy tanked in 2008, we were going, what are we going to do, right? We have less money coming in and our bills are still arriving at the mailbox and they're not going away. So we looked at each other and said, we need to figure this out, right?
We need to be opportunistic and figure out what can we do next? How do we reinvent ourselves? How do we let go, which is the hardest part of what we were doing so that we could create a different life and a different future based on where the world was right then.
It was that decision that changed our life, because it opened my eyes to an opportunity that has changed how I live every day and created the passion and the purpose of my life because it allows me to help people change their own life. It has allowed me to make new choices and have a vehicle to bring us together and build a business together, but also make money together and make a difference in the world together…. really help people see how they can change their life.
So that became an opportunity, because I became an opportunist. I was searching and praying for a way to stay home with our children and not go get a job, not go to work, not have a boss, create my own hours, live in my life and have the freedom and the time to put what matters to me most first and that's what I got.It was everything that I prayed for, including the ability to make a bunch of money and create a legacy, and really make a difference in the world.
Those all showed up. So I don't know whether you're an intuitive or an opportunist, but I do know that this is a time the world has changed and it's important to take this time that we've been given which I believe is the gift to really look at our life and see where we're at and see what we're doing and say, “Is this what I want to do?” and what you feel in your guy.
Go to your gut and ask for that guidance.
What is my purpose?
What is my passion?
What do I care about?
What excites me what lights me up?
And then look for the opportunity, right?
What could I do?
How can I bring that in the world and, and make a difference and create a life that I love based on where the world is today?
So I wanted to share that story because it came across my heart this morning and I realized that I became an opportunist because I needed to be and I think many people do need to be right now but I also am an intuitive, and I trusted that this might be an answer and that intuition of mine helped me not to miss this opportunity that has changed my life. So use both. That's my call to action.
Share with me. What's important to you?
